At Holding Redlich, it is all about equal opportunity. The firm has placed a strong focus particularly on eliminating gender bias in pay – a focus that has earned for the firm the distinction of WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality for the 14th straight year.
The firm explains that in recent years, it has concentrated on building up female representation at the partner and manager levels by “investing in the professional growth of female lawyers.”
“Our gender equality strategy consistently keeps our gender pay equity below benchmark thresholds for the legal industry and we conduct a comprehensive gender pay equity audit each year to identify and eliminate any potential gender bias in our remuneration review process,” says a spokesperson from Holding Redlich.
“We have actively worked on reducing our gender pay gap in legal roles in particular, which was 14.98% in favour of males in 2014.”
The firm added that it has proactively addressed the gap by prioritising parental leave entitlements, flexible work arrangements and opportunities for training and development. Holding Redlich confirmed that as of 1 July, the overall pay equity gap at the firm was at 0% for legal roles.
Moreover, the firm has introduced a flexibility policy which “offers all people options for flexibility that bests suits their needs, including flexible location, flexible hours, flexible leave and flexible dress.”
Holding Redlich has also implemented a reward and recognition policy that honours tenured employees and notable achievements.
The firm also offers both internal and external training opportunities to help staff progress in their careers. This includes an onboarding program for new hires and a legal support capability framework developed in partnership with both employees and an external consultant.

In addition, the firm has introduced a learning management system that includes a compliance refresher program and CPD training. Staff can also participate in seminars, conferences and specialist accreditation programs related to their roles on Holding Redlich’s dime.
“Graduate lawyers completing practical legal training are eligible for up to 20 days’ leave each year to attend and prepare for courses and examinations. Financial assistance for tertiary education is also available to those who are qualifying for legal practice in Australia,” the firm explains.

“We maintain a friendly smaller firm environment as we have grown where people continue to feel connected and supported,” the spokesperson shares.
