Profile
Vanessa Murphy is recognised as a leading dealmaker across investment funds, corporate, and financial services transactions. Her experience spans real estate financing, institutional joint ventures, complex M&A, capital raisings across equity and private credit, and cross-border transactions.
Vanessa is valued for her significant leadership contribution to HW Funds, Hall & Wilcox’s cross-practice investment funds team. She is trusted on complex and high-value matters, bringing clarity to difficult issues and delivering practical outcomes in regulated environments. Her recent work includes advising a leading ASX-listed real assets manager on its acquisition of a boutique fund manager, a major superannuation fund on the transfer of its $1.3-billion real estate portfolio, and the founders of an Australian manufacturing business on a transformative cross-border buyout by a European private equity firm.
Beyond transactions, Vanessa helps shape industry dialogue through her engagement with the Financial Services Council and contributions to regulatory reform. She is recognised in The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific 2025 for Corporate and M&A.
Clients describe her as “exceptional, proactive and flexible” and “practical and solutions-focused”. She is also a committed mentor and sponsor of emerging legal talent and actively supports building a culture where people are trusted, supported and encouraged to thrive.
