Law In Order is a pioneer in legal document and digital services. Founded in 1999, this supplier of end-to-end document and digital solutions has endeavoured to be ahead of the curve, as evidenced by the company’s eHearings team recently conducting a world-first virtual arbitration involving remote real-time transcription and remote evidence presentation (by EPE and expert witnesses) via the Law In Order-hosted virtual arbitration solution. The landmark virtual hearing was attended by a global cohort that included participants from London, Singapore, Bangkok, The Hague, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Vancouver, Washington and Geneva.
Even before COVID-19 struck, Law In Order was already digitalising the hearings process. Months before the pandemic, the company ran its first virtual proceedings to resolve crucial matters in an international arbitration when in-person hearings were hampered by the 2019 protests in Hong Kong. Thus, by the time virtual hearings became necessary due to pandemic-driven lockdowns, Law In Order was ready to take on the demand.
The company employs a combination of lawyers, paralegals, senior IT professionals, legal consultants and project managers “who are familiar with hearing rooms and have in-depth knowledge of relevant technologies,” Law In Order told Australasian Lawyer. This enables the team to provide more efficient support for eHearings. And with a roster that spans Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and India, the company’s legal litigation support professionals are able to provide assistance 24/7.
As the world returns to normality, hearings have begun shifting back to in-person gatherings. However, many courts, arbitration centres, Royal Commissions and Commissions of Inquiry have looked to sustain the digitalisation momentum by adopting hybrid hearings, which combine the best of both worlds.
“Adopting a hybrid mode has become the preferred way to conduct hearings for some firms. Considering that each state and jurisdiction has different rules and COVID-19 related restrictions in place that can swiftly change at any time, the necessity to embrace hybrid hearing environments is more important than ever,” Law In Order explained.
“They are flexible and adaptable to changing restrictions that may disrupt the running of a matter, which is why they have become a priority in the evolving legal landscape amid the pandemic.”

The company’s hybrid hearing solution takes into account all aspects of practitioner engagement during proceedings to ensure that engagement carries over into the virtual medium as well.
Moreover, the company’s eDiscovery initiatives were recently highlighted by its recognition as a RelativityOne Silver Partner. Thirteen years ago, Law In Order was the first to introduce Relativity to the APAC region. Law In Order’s Innovation Hub has produced eDiscoTECH, which automates many menial day-to-day tasks in eDiscovery workflows. It has also produced Smart DeDuper, which the company says enables Relativity users to “remove any additional duplicates after the initial, standard Relativity processing deduplication process.”
The RelativityOne Silver Level distinction, which is part of the Relativity Partner Program, requires recipients to be proven as innovators by having a minimum of one custom app in the Relativity App Hub.
