“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”
Kelvin Rampersad,

Jenna Adamson is a partner at Wynn Williams and part of the firm’s national property team. Based in Queenstown, she is wholeheartedly connected to her clients and does not subscribe to the idea of being a “service provider”, preferring to work in tandem with them. Passionate, proactive, open-minded and bold are all adjectives that define Adamson’s style.
“I bring my whole self to the table, not just as a lawyer but as a person. As lawyers, we need to become part of our clients’ day to day, not only when things go wrong or out of necessity; we need to partner with our clients to understand their business needs and proactively be that trusted resource.”
After graduating from the University of Canterbury in 2010 with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Management), Adamson began her career in Australia, where she was recognised with multiple industry awards.
Her impressive performance saw her ultimately tasked with leading an award-winning real estate team within a top-tier firm, advising major clients and institutional landlords on complex and high-volume commercial, retail and industrial leasing, property developments, sales and acquisitions, due diligence and property-related aspects of high-value corporate and financing transactions.
Prior to joining Wynn Williams in 2022, Adamson opted to zig while others were zagging and stepped away from the traditional career path to become in-house legal counsel for the world’s largest beauty company, L'Oréal, in Australia and New Zealand, initially on a contract basis.
“I accepted a permanent role within a few months. In-house experience gave me a true understanding of what it means when people come to you as a person for trusted advice rather than a lawyer for technical advice alone,” she explains. “That (calculated) risk to go in-house empowered me to take other risks in my career, leading me to where I am today.”
A niche that Adamson specialises in is advising overseas clients who are doing business in New Zealand, either entering into or developing within the market and cutting-edge firsts – a space that draws heavily on her previous experience.
“I believe this puts me in a unique position in the industry, using my international experience to do things differently yet with a local appreciation of the market, particularly in areas that are innovative and evolving,” she says.
Her specialist areas of practice at Wynn Williams include commercial, retail, industrial and mixed-use property and leasing, portfolio management, property development and consumer markets.
Another area of expertise is in the tech sector, where she helps clients embrace the real changes at our forefront and develop greater efficiencies.
“We can best meet the needs of our clients by understanding their whole environment, realising their challenges and focusing on what matters to them – and that requires a lawyer with emotional intelligence and thought leadership,” Adamson adds. “It’s on us to make our client’s job easier and to help them achieve their visions.”
